ARMED FORCES THANKSGIVING GIFTING
With the support of our loyal sponsors, the Armed Forces Thanksgiving event has been able to gift $45,000 to the West Michigan Veteran’s Coalition. It has always been our mission to provide a community salute to our military past, present and future and we are thrilled to be able to “give back” to our local heroes. A large portion of our gift will fund five local West Michigan veterans in an 18-month post-traumatic stress program at Boulder Crest Retreat. Warrior PATHH (Progressive and Alternative Training for Healing Heroes), the nation's first non-clinical program designed to cultivate and facilitate Post-Traumatic Growth amongst those struggling with PTSD and/or combat stress. Warrior PATHH enables these remarkable men and women to transform times of deep struggle into profound strength and growth. This 18-month program begins with a 7-day retreat, initiating students into the Warrior PATHH, and delivers the equivalent of 18 months of therapy in 7 intensive days of training.
Boulder Crest is committed to improving the physical, emotional, spiritual, and economic well-being of our nation's military, veterans, first responders, and their family members. Our programs ensure they have the opportunity to live lives of passion, purpose, and service at home.
The remaining gift will be used by the WMVC to grant underfunded local veteran agencies as well as provide veteran scholarships.
Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum
A $5000 gift was given to the museum to underwrite a 2018 community event hosting a Vietnam Speaker in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the TET Offensive.
We are thrilled that this event has provided the resources to give back to our local veteran community and we look forward to sharing their stories with the community.
